About

Welcome to Sun on my Parade. I’m Summer Goodwin, a professional writer, mentor and coach.

I’ve worked in communications for 25 years, starting out as a print journalist in 1996. I lead the editorial and content team for CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency. For the past 10 years, I have worked in leadership and management roles. Today I’m an accredited organisational coach and professional mentor.

Sun on my Parade started as a hobby in 2013. It was a social enterprise, digital magazine and online community of women celebrating the second half of life. My son was finishing school and I had reached a milestone birthday. I wanted to create a platform where women could share stories and inspire each other to dream bigger. As I’m employed full-time in communications, I decided to only blog when I was inspired. As a result, the energy I invested was sporadic as other priorities fought for my attention.

Fast forward to 2021. After experiencing lockdown in an inner-city apartment in Melbourne, I needed more nature and community. I made a sea change from Balaclava to Mornington in March 2021. It was a bold move, a leap of faith, and I absolutely love it here. I’m passionate about empowering women to take risks, step up, and become leaders in their own lives. I’m doing freelance writing and private coaching. Contact me to find out more.
